Hiking is a core part of the Scouting outdoor program. Troop 25 regularly organizes hikes that build physical fitness, navigation skills, resilience, and appreciation for the natural world. Whether a short nature trail or a multi‑day trek, time on the trail reinforces self‑reliance and teamwork.
Types of Hiking Activities
Day Hikes
Local park and conservation area trails throughout the year. Distances and terrain vary—newer Scouts gain confidence while experienced Scouts challenge themselves with longer routes or elevation changes.
Backpacking Trek
Multi‑day backpacking adventures (often for older Scouts) emphasize gear selection, lightweight packing, meal planning, Leave No Trace ethics, and leadership in a wilderness setting.
Nature Study / Skill Hikes
